Bimini Top Hardware
Bimini Top Hardware
Whether you are replacing a worn-out deck hinge on an existing canopy or building up a complete frame from scratch, bimini top hardware is the system of fittings that holds the canopy in place under load. At Marine Depot Direct, you will find bimini top hardware in 7/8 inch, 1 inch, and 1-1/4 inch tube sizes, including deck hinges, jaw slides, top caps, external and internal eye ends, toggle and quick-release pins, support poles, continuous hinges, and replacement plates. Individual stainless steel bimini top hardware components are stocked for repair and replacement work, and complementary fittings can be combined to assemble a complete bimini top hardware kit for a new build.
Hardware Components
A standard bimini frame uses several types of bimini hardware parts, each with a specific load-bearing role.
Deck Hinges
The base anchor for the bow tubing. Deck hinges mount to the gunwale or deck and accept the lower end of the bow.
- Fixed deck hinges for permanent installations
- Ball-and-socket deck hinges that pivot to absorb angle changes when the top folds
- Quick-release deck hinges for biminis that come down for trailering or low-bridge clearance
Jaw Slides
Clamp to the bow tubing and accept the external or internal eye end of the support pole. Set the height of each bow by sliding the jaw slide along the bow before tightening.
Eye Ends, Pins, and Webbing Straps
Complete the load path between bow tubing and the support poles. Internal eye ends connect support poles to deck hardware, top caps (external eye ends) cap and connect the open ends of bow tubing, and toggle or quick-release pins lock the canopy in deployed position.
Rail Mount Adapters
Substitute for deck hinges on rail-mounted installations. Used when deck space is limited or when your boat already has a rail to mount against.
Tube Diameter Compatibility
Most bimini top hardware is sized to 7/8 inch outside diameter tubing, with 3/4 inch, 1 inch, and 1-1/4 inch fittings available for select hardware types. You cannot mix tube and fitting sizes. A 1 inch jaw slide on a 7/8 inch bow will rotate freely under load and lose its set position. Measure your existing bow tubing with calipers before ordering replacement bimini top parts. Square-tube biminis use a separate hardware family, and round-tube fittings will not adapt cleanly.
Stainless Steel vs Nylon Fittings
316 stainless steel hardware is the durable standard for load-bearing fittings.
- 316 stainless: carries the full canopy load without flex, resists pitting in salt spray, and holds threaded fasteners under repeated tightening cycles.
- Nylon: lower cost and lighter weight, but softens in UV and can crack at the screw bosses after a few seasons. Appropriate only for non-load components such as strap clips, end caps, and internal washers.
For a stainless steel bimini top hardware kit, expect every load-bearing joint to be cast or machined stainless.
Individual Parts vs Complete Kits
A complete bimini top hardware kit makes sense when you are starting from a bare canopy or working with a frame missing several fittings. The kit packages deck hinges, jaw slides, internal and external eye ends, support poles, and pins as a matched set sized to one tube diameter.
Individual boat bimini top parts make sense when you are replacing one or two failed components on an otherwise intact frame. Identify the failed part, confirm the tube size, and order the same fitting type to avoid a mixed-style installation.
Replacement Parts and Accessories
We stock replacement parts for boat bimini hardware including support poles in adjustable lengths, replacement plates for hinged and take-apart jaw slides, toggle pins with lanyard eyes and tabs, ball and socket external eye ends (top caps), heavy-duty external eye ends (top caps), and continuous hinges in mill-finish aluminum and split-rail styles.

Why Buy from Marine Depot Direct?
We stock bimini top hardware in 3/4 inch, 7/8 inch, and 1 inch tube sizes, so the fitting size is rarely the holdup. Our team can confirm tube diameter and fitting style against a photo of your existing hardware, which prevents ordering the wrong size and having to send it back.
Frequently Asked Questions About Bimini Top Hardware
Is bimini hardware universal across boats?
The hardware is universal within tube diameters. A 7/8 inch deck hinge fits any 7/8 inch bow, and a 3/4 inch jaw slide fits any 3/4 inch bow. We also carry fittings for 1 inch and 1-1/4 inch tubing. The fittings are not universal across diameters or between round and square tubing. Confirm tube size before ordering replacement bimini top parts.
Can I use stainless hardware with an aluminum bimini frame?
Yes, with one caveat. Direct contact between dissimilar metals in a wet environment causes galvanic corrosion at the contact point. Use nylon washers or insulating bushings between stainless fittings and aluminum tubing, or seal the joint with marine sealant during assembly.
Do I need quick-release pins or are bolts enough?
Either works. Quick-release pins let you fold the bimini in seconds without tools, which matters for low-bridge clearance and trailering. Bolts hold the same load and work fine on biminis that stay deployed all season. Quick-release pins should be stainless and have a captive ring or ball detent so they stay in the joint.
What is included in a complete bimini top hardware kit?
A complete bimini build typically requires deck hinges, jaw slides, top caps, external and internal eye ends and toggle or quick-release pins, support poles in the appropriate length, and the fasteners needed to mount the deck hinges. Tubing and fabric are typically separate and need to be matched to the chosen tube diameter.
