⚠ WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm – www.P65Warnings.ca.gov
California Prop 65 is nothing new; it was enacted in 1986 for California only. It’s intent was to protect drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Since its inception it has grown to include approximately 1000 chemicals many of which are found in common household items.
These labeled products fall into into three categories as pertains to Prop 65: Those containing brass and those containing PVC PVC, commonly used in wiring products contains vinyl chloride. Both of these substances are listed as chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.
